Bio
Shane 'The Bassman' McCullough is a Minneapolis–based musician whose 25–year career has made him a fixture of the Twin Cities music scene. He began playing guitar and drums at age 11, but his life would change two years later when he received his first bass guitar. That same year he began performing in bands, and by age 15 he co-founded Blue Smoke with childhood friend Alex Rossi, a project that evolved into the widely beloved Root City Band. Root City soon became one of Minneapolis’ most popular groups. After his tenure with the band, Shane went on to join acclaimed slide-guitarist Nathan Miller.
Shane spent nearly two decades touring, recording, and gigging with these two cornerstone acts before stepping back briefly to focus on his family. Today, he remains an in-demand bassist and a dynamic presence on stage, performing with the Tim Sigler Band, The Luck Band, The Elijah Adam Band, John deCausmeaker and co-hosting the Monday Night Open Jam at the Minnesota Music Cafe.
Over the course of his career, Shane has shared the stage with an impressive roster of artists, including Carole King, Susan Tedeschi, Buddy Guy, Jonny Lang, Sawyer Brown, Brad Paisley, Deana Carter, Los Lonely Boys, Indigenous, Kirk Franklin, Gov’t Mule, Shannon Curfman, Lamont Cranston, and many more.
